This song was written by Matt Hammitt, lead singer of the band Sanctus Real, when his first son was born with a very life threatening heart condition. This song came out shortly after we learned of MB's circumstances and that he would be (hopefully) joining our family one day. It's a weird place to be, struggling between guarding your heart against possible unknowns and fears, yet wanting to give it wholly to this beautiful being. Though I doubt he knows it, Matt wrote this song for me, for my husband and for our family.
Feel free to leave comments about how devastatingly handsome our new son is. I promise to not let it go to my head.

Nothing like starting the morning off with a good ugly cry. I am so inexpressibly thrilled for the new addition to your crew. He IS gorgeous. And it SHOULD go to your head. We will be praying that all goes smoothly in the coming days, weeks, months, etc. And we will pray for strength in the times when it doesn't go so smoothly.

ReplyDeleteOh, he is an incredibly handsome little guy. I'm just so glad for your family that you are finally able to bring him home.... and so glad that the two brothers are going to be together. Adoption is an incredible thing, but so is the biological relationship that your two have - it's such a blessing for both of them that they will be able to grow up with someone else who doesn't just look like them because they are from the same country, but from the same FAMILY. What a gift. Will be praying for all of you as you start this new chapter of your story together!

ReplyDeleteMB is beautiful. We are praying for a safe and smooth journey there and back with MB! That song makes me cry everytime I hear it- the kids leave the room when it comes on b/c they know I am gonna lose it. The lyrics have touched our family's lives too.
